Funtastic Medellin

My adventurous college friends descended from the evil clutches of Manila one May weekend and I hopped on a bus to join their escape to the sleepy town of Medellin. They journeyed down south to take the challenge of nearby Gbitingil island: Leap off their jaw dropping 30 ft cliff diving spot and plummet into crystal clear aquamarine depths.  

And since I can't really swim, I just took photos of everything and anything. Hehe.

Although we were slightly disappointed that we weren't haunted by the evil spirits or accosted by the witches that supposedly roam the island, we were bewitched by the laid back charm and the pretty sights the island offered. 

We did get  to visit a mananambal though, and the experience was a curious one as we couldn't totally explain the things that we saw in her little nipa hut.

My favorite girls and I escaped the clutches of Davao City and went to nearby Samal island for the night. We were welcomed by a bright full moon and calm, serene waters. We stayed at Sam's cousin's resthouse and we had the place all to ourselves so we whiled the night away with our singing. I was enthralled to see the City winking at us from the distance, as if she knew our secrets. 

 The moment was particularly beautiful so I couldn't resist some night photography- my special love. It's like trying to capture beauty out of darkness. Uncovering light from the cover of the moon and all that jazz, blah blah. :) Anyway, here are my favorite shots from that night.
